Honda is the name of trust in the Indian two Wheelers market. The reason behind it is the great products according to the demands of Indian riders. In this series of new developments, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) introduced new Honda Eco Technology (HET) to the Indian Bike riders. With HET, Honda has focused on fuel efficiency which is one of the key shortcomings of scooters. With rapidly increasing fuel prices in the global market, there is a big need for increasing the efficiency.
Honda is one of the biggest players among Scooter makers in the Indian scooter market and with HET it is getting an edge over the others. HET is introduced in the following HMSI scooters the Dio, Activa 3G, Activa I, Activa125 and Aviator.
About HET Technology From Honda
The new development i.e. HET primarily focuses on reducing the friction and features lightweight components. This change enables an 11 % increase in fuel efficiency which is great when compared to the older variants. For lowering the friction Honda included an offset crank. The crankshaft is usually placed in the lower center of the engine and offsetting its angle reduces the friction from the side walls of the cylinder. This reduction in friction directly helps with lower loss of power.
HET has also worked on another important area i.e. the combustion process. This has primarily been achieved through changing the air intake pipe’s design.
The next and the most important one is the transmission, which has been optimized to not just offer higher efficiency but maintain the same power level.
With the introduction of HET though, the best result is achieved i.e. the fuel efficiency is 60 km/l. The effects of these changes are evident on the road as the engine feels smoother than the earlier units .The only visual change in the Honda Activa HET equipped scooters is a small badge that reads the presence of the new technology. Despite having largely the same underpinnings the three scooters look completely different from each other from every angle.
